Company to invest $1.5 million; create 155 new jobs.

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced Friday that AvePoint Inc., the established leader in enabling enterprise collaboration across platforms and devices, will invest $1.5 million to establish an operation in the City of Richmond, creating 100 new jobs. The company will also expand in Arlington County, creating 55 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed against Atlanta, Georgia for the project.

Speaking about the announcement, Governor McAuliffe said, "We are thrilled that AvePoint will establish its presence in Richmond and expand its footprint in Arlington, Virginia. This is a major international company that provides invaluable data management software that will grow in demand as platforms and devices continue to advance. Technology development is an important component of building a new Virginia economy, and we look forward to continuing a strong corporate partnership between the Commonwealth and AvePoint."

"AvePoint's establishment in the City of Richmond and growth in Arlington County is a wonderful testament to the outstanding talent, attractive corporate climate, great infrastructure and quality of life in the Commonwealth,"said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Maurice Jones. "This global technology company will benefit from these great assets and create more jobs right here in Virginia."

AvePoint is the established leader in enabling enterprise collaboration across platforms and devices. Focusing on helping enterprises in their digitization journey to enable their information workers to collaborate with confidence, AvePoint is first to market with a unique solution that centralizes access and control of information assets residing in disparate collaboration and document management systems on-premises and in the cloud. AvePoint solutions and services aim to bring together business, IT, as well as compliance and risk officers to serve key business objectives such as big data, cloud integration, compliance, enterprise content management, and mobile data access monitoring.

Founded in 2001 and based out of Jersey City, N.J., AvePoint serves over 14,000 organizations and 3 million Office 365 users in five continents across all industry sectors, with focused practices in the energy and utilities; financial services; healthcare and pharmaceuticals; and public sector industries.

When asked why AvePoint decided to establish a presence in Richmond and expand operations in Arlington, Virginia over other states, Brian Brown, AvePoint's Global General Counsel, indicated, "It was a highly competitive selection process and AvePoint considered numerous quantitative and qualitative factors in its analysis. In the end, Virginia clearly offers an unparalleled attractive business atmosphere with lower taxes, a lower cost of doing businesses and a highly talented labor force, the combination of which no other location suitably matched. In addition to being business and employer friendly, Virginia offers an idyllic setting for our employees to live and thrive. Compared to other possible expansion locations, Virginia took the winning position by a wide margin thanks to its commercial, social and cultural standing."

Tom Lin, AvePoint Corporate Vice President of North America Sales, stated, "AvePoint has long had its eye on Virginia—Richmond and Arlington, specifically. The highly specialized work force, temperate weather, booming culture, ever expanding and exceptional food and craft brewery scenes, pro-business economy and abundance of Southern charm and hospitality made it a clear choice for AvePoint. We're extremely pleased to grow our operations in the great Commonwealth of Virginia and look forward to many prosperous years ahead."

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the City of Richmond, the Greater Richmond Partnership, and Arlington County to secure the project for Virginia. The company is eligible to receive state benefits from the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program, administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Funding and services to support the company's employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.

"AvePoint's decision to establish its presence in Richmond speaks to the City's strong business climate and ability to compete and retain new economy companies with international footprints," said City of Richmond Mayor Dwight C. Jones. "We are proud that AvePoint has chosen Richmond and are committed to helping AvePoint grow their company in our great Capital City."

"I am very excited to have AvePoint in our area," said Senator Donald McEachin. "As an outstanding business, I know they will bring good jobs to the region and they will find Virginians are outstanding employees and neighbors."

"AvePoint has been a longtime member of Arlington's technology community, and we are thrilled that the company plans to grow its presence here," said Arlington County Board Chair Libby Garvey. "Arlington's highly-skilled workforce will be very beneficial for AvePoint as it expands, and we look forward to our continued partnership."

"Arlington is proud to welcome AvePoint to its growing technology sector," said Senator Barbara Favola. "AvePoint's decision to choose Arlington speaks to the diverse and innovative culture that Arlington has cultivated. I applaud Governor McAuliffe for his tireless efforts to bring more jobs to the Commonwealth and I look forward to working with the Governor to continue to grow and diversify our economy."

"Arlington welcomes AvePoint's expansion in Virginia," said Delegate Patrick Hope. "The technology sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in Virginia's new economy and Arlington is the perfect place for companies like AvePoint to continue to grow and prosper."
