Richmond, VA - It's now up to Governor Terry McAuliffe to act, to compensate more victims of Virginia's Eugenics program for being sterilized without their knowledge.

The general assembly agreed to compensate living victims of the state sanctioned sterilizations $25,000 dollars each.

The state has already paid 16 victims, which used up the first $400,000 allocated.

Victim advocate Mark Bold tells ABC 13 there are at least 7-8 ready or almost ready to get a check right now, and likely others who have yet to come forward.

This session lawmakers approved another $800,000, and Arlington County Delegate Patrick Hope tells ABC 13 as soon as the governor signs it, the money will go straight into the pot rather than waiting until the next fiscal year.
