Del. Patrick Hope (D-47th) on Oct. 17 received a "Rookie of the Year" award from the Virginia Education Association.

The award signified that Hope had voted 100 percent for the priorities of the teachers' union during the 2010 legislative session.

Hope "is a welcome addition to a House of Delegates in need of more friends to public education," said VEA's Robley Jones. "We look forward to a long friendship."

Hope received his award at a meeting of the Arlington Education Association.

"Our teachers and support personnel are on the forefront preparing our students to be Virginia's future leaders," Hope said at the event, held at Kenmore Middle School.
