Sun Gazette: Delegate Helps Usher in Springtime with Flower Seeds Print

Created:  Saturday, April 6, 2013

For some constituents, it wouldn't be springtime without a packet of flower seeds that Del. Patrick Hope (D-47th) distributes in the community.

The packets, paid for out of Hope's campaign funds, this year feature Cosmos "Bright Lights," described as producing "free-flowering, colorful blooms on bushy plants" that are "very easy to grow" and work well for bouquets.

"A few years ago, as a way to brighten my annual 'end of the session' newsletter, I decided to include a package of flower and herb seeds," Hope told the Sun Gazette. "I also hand them out at Arlington events and farmers' markets."

The gesture does not go unnoticed, Hope said.

"I'm always delighted when people stop to thank me for the seeds or give me a report on how they're growing," he said. "Arlington is such a beautiful county, and I hope, in some small way, the seeds contribute to that."
