A resolution approved earlier in the year by the House of Delegates, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Long Branch Park, formally was presented to the park by its patron on Dec. 6.

Del. Patrick Hope (D-47th) handed over a framed copy of the House resolution during a graduation ceremony of the Arlington Regional Master Naturalists. The measure had been approved unanimously by the lower house of the legislature during the 2013 session.

Located in a converted 1940s-era house, Long Branch Nature Center opened its doors to the public in November 1972. Each year, the facility offers approximately 500 nature programs for all ages and hosts 20,000 visitors. It is operated one of two nature centers by the Arlington Department of Parks and Recreation.
