  • 2018

    • Virginia League of Conservation Voters again in 2018 awarded Delegate Hope their 100% Legislative Hero Award for his strong dedication and priortization of their conservation values protecting our Comonwealth's precious natural resources.  Additionally Delegate Hope contunues his service on the Joint Commission on Health Care as well as being appointed to serve on the Deeds Commission which is a Joint Subcommittee to study Mental Health Servcies in the 21st Century.

  • 2017

    • In addition to serving for a fourth year on the Joint Commision on Health Care, Speaker Howell appointed Delegate Hope to serve on the Joint Subcommittee to Study Mental Health Services in the Twenty-First Century for a term coincident with the term for which he serves in the Virginia House of Delegates.

  • 2016

    • While Delegate Hope continues to serve on the Joint Commission on Health Care and the Virginia Heath Workforce Development Authority during 2016, he also received the 100% Legislative Hero Award from the Virginia League of Conservation Voters and separate recognition from the Sierra Club - Virginia Chapter. 

    • Additionally, the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association PAC presented Delegate Hope with a 2016 Healthcare Hero Award for his leadership, advocacy and dedication to healthcare initiatives across the Commonwealth.

  • 2015

    • Delegate Patrick Hope recieved his sixth 100% Legislative Hero Award from the Virginia League of Conservation Voters, as well as a 100% score from the Sierra Club Virginia Chapter General Assembly Climate and Energy Scorecard.

    • Delegate Hope has also been endorsed this year by the VEA Fund for Children and Public Education, the Northern Virginia Technology Council Tech PAC, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federations AgPAC and the Virginia AFL-CIO, a union supporting legislation that benefits workers and their families. Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington Action Fund, Humane Dominion, an organization committed to electing animal-friendly candidates, and the Virginia Chapter of the National Organization for Women, the LGBT Democrats of Virginia, Equality Virginia PAC, and Virginia Professional Fire Fighters have also endorsed Delegate Hope.

  • 2014

    • In 2014, Speaker Howell appointed Delegate Hope to serve on both the Joint Commission on Health Care and the Virginia Heath Workforce Development Authority.  The JCHC works to ensure the greatest number of Virginians receive quality health care and the VHWDA focuses attention on developing a statewide health professional workforce benefitting all Virginians.  Additionally for the fifth consecutive year, Patrick received the 100% Legislative Hero Award from the Virginia League of Conservation Voters.

  • 2013

    • Governor Bob McDonnell appointed Delegate Hope to serve on the Task Force of School and Campus Safety. This group will review school safety, including established policies and procedures, crisis and emergency management plans, threat assessment protocols, as well as share best practices and identify resource challenges. This task force will also provide legislative and budget proposals to the governor to address any critical gaps or needs associated with safety and security in our schools and on our campuses.  Again in 2013 Patrick also received the 100% Legislative Hero Award from the Virginia League of Conservation Voters.

  • 2012

    • Delegate Patrick Hope received top honors from the Virginia Education Association for his 100% VEA voting record as well as the 100% pro-choice rating from NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia for votes in the 2012 Session.

    • Additionally Patrick was awarded his third Virginia League of Conservation Voters 100% Legislative Hero Award for his perfect score on conservation votes during the 2012 Session.

  • 2011

    • Delegate Hope was awarded the Virginia Elder Rights Coalition's (VERC) 2011 Annual Elder Rights Award, named after longtime Arlington County residents and elder rights advocate, Erica F. Wood. Patrick was honored for sponsoring bills in the 2011 General Assembly aimed at strengthening the rights of nursing home residents. He received this award from Kathy Pryor, VERC Chair and Joani Latimer, State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, along with Erica Wood at the May 17th meeting of the Northern Virginia Aging Network.

    • Again for his voting record in the 2011 Session, Delegate Hope was awarded the 100% Legislative Hero Award from the Virginia League of Conservation Voter.  The VALCV is a non-partisan political voice of Virginia's conservation community.

    • Additionally, Patrick earned a 100% pro-choice rating from NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia for voting to respect and protect women's rights and reproductive health.

  • 2010

    • In his first term, Patrick has been recognized as “2010 Legislator of the Year” from both the Virginia Transit Association and the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians as well as a "Legislative Hero"by the Virginia League of Conservation Voters. 

    • Additionally Governor McDonnell named Patrick to the Virginia Health Reform Initiative and is the only House Democrat appointed to this bipartisan group.

    • Delegate Hope also received a "Rookie of the Year" award from the Virginia Education Association (VEA) for his 100 percent VEA voting record in the 2010 legislative session of the Virginia General Assembly.  The Arlington Education Association is an organization of members, including teachers and educational support personnel, who advocate for its members by meeting regularly with Arlington Public Schools administration and School Board members to discuss working conditions, instruction, benefits and wages.

    • Patrick was also awarded his first Virginia League of Conservation Voters 100% Legislative Hero Award for his perfect score on conservation votes during the 2010 Session.

    • Additionally for his first session's votes to keep choice safe and accessible in Virginia, Delegate Hope earned his first 100% Pro-Choice rating from NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia.

  • Previous Community Service Awards

    • Patrick has been recognized for his previous years of community service.  Among his awards and recognitions include Arlington County Civic Federation’s Civic Hero Award (2005); James B. Hunter, III Community Hero Recognition (2007); Virginia Association of Community Services Boards (VACSB) Joseph V. Gartlan Award (2007); Special Olympics-VA Gold Medalist All-Around Competition (2007); NAMI-Arlington Recognition Award (2008); ARC of Northern Virginia Russell Garth "You Are the Change" Award (2008).
